Vinous Antonio Galloni - 08 Apr 25
The NV Extra-Brut Les Beguines (base 2016) is a fine choice for drinking today. It, too, has aged quite well. I don't see the potential for extended development in the cellar, and yet the 2016 is a delight today. Apricot, dried pear, chamomile and sweet floral nuances all build in the glass. Tasted next to the 2014, the 2016 offers a bit more mid-palate pliancy and overall presence. Dosage is 2 grams per liter.

Champagne

Champagne, exclusively from France's Champagne region, is synonymous with luxury and celebration. Made primarily from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, it undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, creating its signature bubbles. Flavours range from crisp green apple and citrus to rich, toasty notes of nuts and honey. Yeast contact in the bottle contributes to pastry and brioche notes, which are a key part of good quality Champagne. Top producers include Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and Krug.
